Sierra Club Snow Campers were established
about 20 years ago by a couple of hearty individuality that loved to camp and
learn to survive in the snow. Since then the club has grown to over 50
souls with more that join up during the winter to tone their skills at this
unique sport. Most of the club is from the East Bay, Berkley area, but people
from all over come to join in on the fun.
The Snow Campers visit the Sierra's, Lassen Park, Yosemite and other well know
mountainous areas to learn how to survive in snowy conditions. Building snow
caves, snowshoeing and learning to be safe in harsh conditions are just a
few of the challenges they face.
They plan 2 and 3 days week-ends every year to get together and enjoy the great
outdoors. Meeting old friend and making new ones is just one of the bonus for
this club. |
